Camping in Toledo

Toledo. Founded by the Romans, Visigoths was chosen as capital in 579, after Arab rule (s. viii), was recaptured in the s. xi. Alfonso VI chose it as capital of the Kingdom in 1087, adopted role-alternating with Valladolid and Leon, until 1561, when Philip II moved the capital Madrid. Toledo, surrounded by a meander of the Tejo which makes it a natural fortress, is one of the most monumental cities in the world (World Heritage Site), which deserves a leisurely visit. Therefore, it is not possible to collect here all his greatness, we limit ourselves to summarizing some of his most characteristic monuments.
Beautiful views from the Parador Nacional Conde de Orgaz, S. Church Juan de los Reyes, the Gothic cathedral (ss. xiii-xv), the palace ... Entering the city through the Puerta del Cambron (Renaissance), the Franciscan monastery of S. Juan de los Reyes (s. xv). The Jewish quarter retains two synagogues: Santa Maria la Blanca (s. xii, transformed into a church in the fifteenth century) and Traffic (s. xiv), Mudejar. Behind the Casa-Museo del Greco (s. xvi), with paintings by the artist (in the church of Sto. Tomé can admire his famous Burial of Count Orgaz). Fuensalida Palace (XIV-xv), pc. Zocodover, Hospital Santa Cruz de Mendoza (sixteenth century, Renaissance, now a museum). To the northwest, Monastery Sto. Domingo el Antiguo (ss. xi-xii). Leaving Toledo, through the famous door hinge (ix century, rebuilt in the sixteenth century), the Hospital de Tavera (s. xvi).

Other points of interest: Route of the Castles. From Toledo, and the C-401, Guadamur (fifteenth century castle), S. Martín de Montalbán, Puebla de Montalbán, Chapel Melque (Moorish-style architectural jewel), Torrijos (Collegiate Gothic-Renaissance), Maqueda (fifteenth century Moorish castle.) Other castles of interest: Escalona and Barcience.
East, Yepes (collegiate), Ocaña (Plaza Mayor arcades Mudejar church of S. John), the wine Noblejas, Villarrubia de Santiago, Santa Cruz de la Zarza . From Toledo Talavera is located along the main populations in Montes de Toledo, Crow, P. Sales Aguilera, S. Pablo de los Montes, Menasalvas, Navahermosa, Los Navalmorales ... up to the "City of Ceramics" (Collegiate Gothic St. Mary, Mudejar church of Santiago el Nuevo, tiling of the hermitage of Nuestra Señora del Prado).
Near Talavera's second city the province, are the beautiful town of Oropesa (fourteenth century castle, now the Parador Nacional) and Lagartera (famous for its embroidery), Puente del Arzobispo (ceramic) and the typical village of Valdeverdeja. Another interesting excursion is to Illescas (Toledo 34 km) and Esquivias.
