León. Northwest of Castilla y Leon is the province of Leon, much more than a city, a kingdom. Political union with Castile occurs in s. xiii, although in the x Ordoño II move his court to the capital, becoming the most important city in Christian Spain. To know better start for his triad of monuments: Cathedral, sober and robust, the Collegiate Church of S. Isidoro, built on the former church of S. John and the former convent of S. Marcos, now converted into a luxury hotel, which stands the monumental facade.
Can not talk without mentioning Spanish Romanesque basilica of S. Isidoro. Their pantheon of the Kings has vaults that some critics have referred to as the "Sistine Chapel of Romanesque Art."
