Camping in Zamora
Zamora. The province is located in the west of the northern sub-plateau, forming border with Portugal. The Duero crosses from east to west the land Zamora, dividing the area into two regions: the north, the Pan-dry terrain in which growing rainfed wheat, on the south, the land of wine, wine region of Toro.
In the capital stands the cathedral, "pearl s. xii ', outside of which stands the Bishop's Gate, the Romanesque style. The tower is also Romanesque, while the dome is Byzantine influence, with four corner turrets. Of interest are also the churches of the Magdalena (s. xii), Santiago de Burgo, S. Juan de Puerta Nueva and Santiago de los Caballeros, where he says he was knighted the Cid by King Ferdinand I.
Other monuments are the churches of S. Claudio, Sto. Tomé, Santa Maria de la Horta and St. Mary of Renews, and that of S. Ildefonso. In the section on civil constructions notable, noted the façade of the Momos (s. xv).
Other points of interest: Benavente, beautiful Spanish villa, stands the Romanesque church of St. Mary of Quicksilver, and that of S. Juan del Mercado, a beautiful carved portal. The castle-palace of the Count-Duke, burned by the troops of Napoleon, and the remaining ruins of Caracol Tower. Also in the park of La Mota is installed the Parador Nacional de Turismo.
Puebla de Sanabria will know its beautiful lake and a castle s. xv. Important is also the Romanesque church with sculptures carved in slate blocks. In the bottom of the village houses of traditional architecture have Galician side. West of the lake are the people of Ribadelago, devastated by a flood in 1959 and then rebuilt.
Toro, along the Duero, stands the Clock Tower and the collegiate church of St. Mary Major. Among the civic buildings include the Palace of the Laws, Cross hospital and its beautiful plaza de toros (1828). At the door stand Villalpando S. Andrew and the church of Santa Maria la Antigua.
